We have five senses but easily the most precious is our eyesight. It’s quite easy to take our eyesight for granted but like every other organ of the human body, eyes too need to be taken care of so that there is a good chance that our vision either stays the same or better, improves. How to improve eyesight is an oft asked question and there are simple answers:

• Spectacles
• Contact lenses

• Via laser eye surgery

Improving eyesight naturally is also very much a possibility. People naturally think of glasses or corrective surgery when it comes to improving eyesight but the fact is that you can also do eye exercises to improve vision.

It’s true that laser eye surgery is a much faster alternative to achieving great vision but it comes in a very expensive package and complications are always likely. Not so with exercises to improve eyesight. Blinking is one of the recommended exercises because it keeps eyes fresh and helps relieve stress on this organ. This can be especially beneficial for those people who watch television or computer screens for a long time every day.

You can also try palming which is extremely effective in making your eyes relax. It is simple enough to do. You place your palms on your eyes, relax the lower ends on your cheekbone and allow yourself to blink when you need to. This is a very easy way of keeping eyes from getting fatigued. There are other exercises to improve eyesight but one of the prominent ones is focusing. This one is also quite easy. Place your thumb ten or twelve inches away from your face and concentrate on what you are seeing. After a few seconds allow your vision to focus on any object that is anywhere between ten to twenty feet away. Then concentrate deeply on that. That’s what you have to do: focus on one thing and then shift your vision to refocus in a similar way again. You can also contribute towards the health of your eyes by consuming a diet that is well balanced and has sufficient quantities of calcium and vitamin D.
